Welcome to the Diabetes Legends Foundation

Living Loud.

Free youth basketball clinics led by pro athletes living with Type 1 — for the kids and families who need to see what's possible.

Our Mission

Community changes what's possible.

The Diabetes Legends Foundation hosts free youth basketball clinics for kids and families living with Type 1 diabetes. Led by pro athletes who play — and live — with diabetes, every clinic is a place where kids see, first-hand, that nothing about a diagnosis has to stop them.

01

Free for Every Family

Every clinic is free. We never want cost to be the reason a kid doesn't get on the floor with their heroes.

02

Pros Who've Been There

Our clinics are led by current and former pro athletes living with Type 1 — the people kids are looking for and rarely get to meet.

03

For the Whole Family

Siblings, parents, and friends are welcome. The community we build in the gym is the real point.

Board of Directors

Led by athletes who've been there.

Rob Howe

Board Chair

Founder of Diabetics Doing Things and a lifelong Type 1, Rob has spent more than a decade building media, community, and advocacy infrastructure for people with diabetes. He launched the Diabetes Legends Foundation to bring pro athletes living with T1D into the same gym as the kids who need to see them.

Lauren Cox

Director

Former Baylor All-American and 2020 WNBA Draft pick, Lauren has played at the highest levels of women's basketball while managing Type 1 diabetes since childhood. She mentors young athletes navigating the same path she walked — and her presence on the floor at every clinic tells kids what's possible.

Gary Forbes

Director

A former NBA player and longtime professional overseas, Gary was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes mid-career and chose to keep playing — and keep talking. He's become one of the most visible advocates in pro sports for life with diabetes, and a foundational voice in everything Diabetes Legends builds.
